SCHOOL CLOSED FEBRUARY 2nd and 3rd
Chicago Public Schools will remain closed Thursday. CPS spokeswoman Monique Bond said officials decided to keep schools closed a second day and made the decision because they could not "ensure that schools will be safely accessible for students and staff" and felt they could not provide adequate bus service. Unfortunately, the Chinese New Year celebration planned on the 3rd will have to be rescheduled at a later date this month.
Robert Morris off campus classes for our 8th graders are also canceled.
Our school building did not suffer any damage, heat and electricity are working properly. I will monitor the playground and school surroundings with CPS, the engineer, and the PTA Safety Committee. CPS may close the schools again tomorrow Friday due to problems of transportation in streets that are not plowed around schools. We will update this website as we hear more about school closings.
I am sure our students will use this time wisely, will read, and get ahead on their assignments. If not, I am counting on parents to encourage their children to do so and also monitor practice of the world language on Rosetta Stone!
Thank you for your patience and understanding during these extreme weather conditions.
