Math League Competition: 1st place for LaSalle 8th grade!
The first competition for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math team was held on Saturday, November 5 at Lane Tech. Our Mathletes competed in two rounds: individual and 4 person team. There were over 20 schools competing in our division which made the event extremeley competitive.
Here are the results from the contest:
6th grade Team: The LaSalle 6th grade team finished 4th overall in the individual round and received a medal for their results. The 6th grade team members are Hannah Lynn, Haley Wellman. Erik Haneberg, Jada Yolich, Quinn Mitchell, and Shanice Ahouansou.
Overall, Hannah Lynn and Haley Wellman are tied for 7th place. Erik Haneberg is tied for 12th place.
7th grade Team: The LaSalle 7th grade team finished 7th overall in the individual round. The 7th grade team members are Jackson Naumes, Chloe Cho, Chlore Shores, Max Bottcher, Thomas McKeon, Diego Laslo-Soza, Kaline Langley, Talib Grant, and Michael Antonietti
Overall, Jackson Naumes is tied for 17th place.
8th grade Team: The LaSalle 8th grade team finished 1st overall in the individual round and received a medal for their results. The 8th grade team members are Zach Veitch, Billy Lynn, Catherine Conley, Geir Falck-Pedersen, Phoebe Hicks, Alex Ernst, and Jonathan Switzer.
Overall, Zach Veitch placed 1st and received a medal for his score. Billy Lynn is tied for second, but received the 4th place medal due to a tie-breaker. Phoebe Hicks is tied for 6th. Alex Ernst and Catherine Conley are tied for 10th. All of our 8th graders are ranked in the top 25.
The 4-person team of Billy Lynn, Zach Veitch, Thomas McKeon, and Diego Laslo-Soza placed 3rd overall and received a medal.
