• LaSalle’s First Exchange Program with China

  
  For twenty five years, LaSalle Language Academy has been a pioneer elementary school, offering its 7th and 8th graders exchange programs to Europe (France, Germany, Italy and Spain).
  
  Over the last two years, we have explored the possibility of an exchange program with China. We researched and found a wonderful partner school in Shenyang, third largest city in China and one of Chicago sister's city. On January 18th, a group or Chinese students arrived from Shenyang. They were paired with LaSalle students who are studying Mandarin and were hosted in their families. It was interesting to note the timing of this first exchange occuring at the same time as the President of China's visit to Chicago! In April, our students will leave to visit Shenyang. It is always a pleasure to see students from two countries interact and become friends. Understanding dfferent cultures is a very important part of our school's mission. Over the years, LaSalle Language Academy has sent more than 1,000 students abroad!
