Chicago French Market Singers
School activities did not end on Friday December 17th for Ms. Nelson and Ms. Veitch, our two French teachers and a group of thirteen enthusiastic 7th and 8th grade French students who had been coming to school early every Wednesday morning throughout November and December, to rehearse a selection of traditional French seasonal songs.
On the first day of vacation, the “Chanteurs français” gathered at the new and quaint covered French Market in the West Loop. They performed songs for an audience of family, friends, and bustling shoppers. The students sang beautifully and earned plenty of compliments for both their vocal skills and their accents. Bravo! The festive atmosphere was heightened by the fact that he market was celebrating its first anniversary and there were plenty of free samples being distributed.
After the performance, the students enjoyed lunch chosen from one of the food stands serving delicious and authentic specialities, such as crêpes, croques-monsieurs, Belgian frites, croissants and macarons. Délicieux!
We will be sure to return to the French Market next year for the second annual French Market performance!
