LaSalle’s Specialty Programs
Art, Bilingual Education, Library, Music, & Physical Education
The Specialty School enriches the educational experiences of LaSalle students by offering instruction in non-academic subject areas that are vital to the growth and development of the whole child. These disciplines provide fertile ground for curriculum integration activities that address the multiple intelligences and enhance holistic teaching and learning.
• The Visual Arts Program promotes creativity, artistic awareness, and visual literacy by developing the understanding of concepts, processes, techniques, and skills necessary to create visual arts projects in a variety of media. It fosters appreciation of the art of other cultures and eras.
• The Bilingual Program provides instruction and educational assistance through the home language to promote proficiency and successful academic functioning in the monolingual English classroom.
• Library inspires students to grow into lifelong readers, conscientious, resourceful learners, and reflective, contributing citizens of the world through LaSalle’s extensive print and online resources.
• The Music Program opens the worlds of musical expression, literacy, and appreciation to all students via movement, singing, playing Orff instruments (xylophones, percussion instruments and recorders), and the study of theory, multicultural music, and music history
• Physical Education exposes students to a variety of team sports and individual activities that motivate healthy lifestyle choices.
