Letter from Principal
On October 9, 2014, I informed the Local School Council and the LaSalle community that I would be resigning from CPS before the end of my contract. It was an incredibly difficult decision but it is time for me to consider other opportunities. I am very proud of the accomplishments that we have achieved as a community to improve every aspect of the school. Recently, the Illinois State Board of Education informed us that we were one of the 16 schools in Illinois nominated for the 2015 Blue Ribbon Award.

Message from Principal Elisabeth Heurtefeu
In the international best selling book "The World Is Flat", Thomas L. Friedman shows how companies and individuals now compete across increasingly irrelevant frontiers. Mastering world languages not only opens the doors to more careers but also develops open-minded individuals. All students enrolled at LaSalle participate in world language study from Kindergarten through 8th grade and learn the same world language for nine years to achieve proficiency. The LaSalle students are also exposed once a month to integrated units delivered by all our world language teachers in English classes to build a solid understanding of other cultures and points of view. ...READ MORE »
LaSalle top rated school in 2013/14 CPS Ranking
CPS released the 2013/14 ranking of schools on December 3, 2014. Out of 5 possible points, LaSalle received 4.8 points. Only two elementary schools received 4.9 and only five elementary schools received 4.8. I am extremely pleased with the results obtained and thank all our teachers and staff for their dedication to help all our students achieve high levels of growth. The results only assess reading and math attainment and growth levels. Let's not forget that all our students also achieve proficiency in at least one world language and that our graduates are great communicators (speaking and writing skills), citizens (social studies and character education), amazing athletes and/or artists. Our vision is a reality! "LaSalle Language Academy will teach and inspire every student to achieve their potential as intellectuals, people of character, and engaged citizens and leaders of a multicultural world". ...READ MORE »
